Lately I’ve been battling with doing something that I don’t want to do. Everytime I think about it, I am not excited about it. I almost hate talking about it. The reality is that I have to do this thing, no matter whether I want to or not. This thing will not kill me or harm me. I just have to suck it up and do it.
So now when I have a negative thought about it, I say, “whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Phillippians 4:8 KJV. The New Living Translation says, “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Do you know how hard that is? I let all of my personal feelings get in the way of doing what is right. Doing this thing and being happy about it is the right thing to do. How do you handle doing things that you don’t want to do?
AMAZING!!!!!! The spirit of God moved in the place like I hadn’t seen in a long time. It started with intercessory prayer and it just kept going higher and higher. Then we did something a little different – for praise and worship we did our slower paced songs first. Those songs were “Forever You’re My King” and “How Great is Our God”. Then we did the upbeat songs which were “Undignified Praise and “High Praise”. Oh my goodness it was just an awesome worship experience.
How was your church service?
Have you all gotten Israel Houghton’s cd, Love God Love People ? I got it on release day and I like it, it’s different than most of his work, but it works. I am not going to do a review, but I will say that one of my favorites on the cd is “Others”. It was on Israel’s last release but done in an acoustic version. He has remade the song and added strings and the whole effect is just amazing.
Israel was also on the Yolanda Adams morning show promoting his new project. They did something like a “Worship Unplugged” and it was so good. There was even an Israel and Yolanda duet with Aaron Lindsay on the keys. What a treat!
Check it out
This week ….
I bought the Israel cd this week – you should check it out!!
Had lunch here with co-workers at the Blu Greek Taverna Restaurant – the food was sooooo good.
I love free “legal” downloads – get your fill at Amazon
: off the top of my head you can get songs by Fred Hammond, Ashmont Hill, Trinity 5-7, the Anointed Pace Sisters, Earnest Pugh, etc.
Have you tried Groupon? The discounts are the best! My latest savings was a $50 gift card from the Gap that I purchased for $25.
Cheap Indulgence – Nail Polish : I don’t know why, but love getting new shades of nail polish and I don’t have to pay a lot of money for it. However, I have to dress so conservative on the job that I don’t get a chance to wear it.
I love it when J fires up the grill during the week.

August has ended, now September is here!!! Isn’t this year passing by fast? So here’s a brief re-cap of my August. The month started with a celebration of my husband’s deacon ordination, followed by my birthday which was the next weekend. One of my cousins got married on my birthday – outside, mid-afternoon in August heat, but I forgive him. Don’t get me wrong, the wedding was nice, but it’s hard to forget about that heat.
This month offered an awesome singing opportunity with a family friend. I joined with him and a few others to do praise and worship for a local church conference. Also, I participated in my company’s talent showcase at the Mablehouse Amphitheatre. Have you ever been to the Mablehouse? What a nice venue!!
In other music news, I presented a first listen for my song “Magnify” and got great feedback from that. Thanks to all of you who helped out with that. Praise and Worship night has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 20 and it will be held at my church – Cornerstone of Faith. I am currently working on getting a band for that. Most of my singers have already been booked. So things are coming along quite well.
Here are a few things that I would like to do in September:
- Enjoy a short trip with my hubby – we just need a little break to “get away” from it all
- Put together a group of musicians for Praise and Worship night
- Get my car repaired – There are just a few things that I have been putting off with my car for a while and it’s about time to get it fixed
- Work on my Musician’s success packet
- Organize my songs – I’ve written lots of songs and haven’t organized them in the least bit
- Figure out what I am going to do with my song release – there have been some challenges with my song, but I’ll know exactly what’s going to happen with it by the month end
- Get back in the studio to work on another song
I am moving forward!!!
Update: Thanks to all for the feedback. I believe that I have received the information that I needed. The song will be removed at this time and I will definitely keep you posted on the release.
Hey Everybody! I need a huge favor. I need for you all to critique and review my song. Here is what you need to do –
- Listen to my new song “Magnify” a few times
- Tell me how you feel when you listen to the song
- Give me your honest opinion of the song
- Tell me which music artists I sound like
I hope that this is not too much to ask.
This song is not a final copy, it still has to be mastered so it will only be posted for a limited amount of time.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
Holiness (Take My Life) was made popular in the gospel community by Micah Stampley. This song was originally done by Scott Underwood over ten years ago.

I love hearing about new songs and new artists, just in case you didn’t know that by now.
Check out this free download of Anthony Evans singing the Star Spangled Banner. This is one of the best that I have heard in a while.
